Welcome to Sunnie Reads: The Stacks — where we share our favorite book picks from our favorite people.
Haley Pham’s reading vlogs feel like a Saturday afternoon hangout with a bestie. She’s a comfort creator and a writer: her first novel, Just Friends, was published last month. So obviously, we had to ask about her favorite reads … and she even shared the one book at the top of her TBR.

Cover Story by Mhairi McFarlane
✦ Why it makes my stack:
Mhairi McFarlane is such a witty writer. Her books make me actually laugh out loud. Not a little nose snort — an actual, bravado laugh. She writes serious topics with perfect weight while keeping the plot fast-paced and fun. In this case, Bel, a journalist, goes undercover to uncover a sinister plot about the Mayor. Plus, the romance subplot makes me swoon.
✦ I’d recommended it if:
You need fast paced, quality read. I think Bel’s journey is inspiring for all women.

Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto
✦ Why it makes my stack:
It’s hilarious and twisty. It’s technically classified as a “cozy mystery” which basically means her date dies and she needs help covering up the body but it’s somehow ... lighthearted? I loved the banter between her Asian aunties and I could never predict what was coming next.
✦ I’d recommended it if:
You’re in a reading slump. It’ll take you right out, and you’ll be laughing, too.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
✦ Why it makes my stack:
It’s one of the titles we helped choose for Coach’s latest campaign, Explore Your Story, which champions stories about courage and self-expression. And, honestly, it’s at the top of my TBR list. It has a lot to say about first impressions: how they can lead us down unexpected paths, and how people aren’t always exactly what they seem.
✦ I’d recommended it if:
You want to start it together! There’s a lot of romance, heartbreak, and surprises in this story but from what I’ve heard, there’ll be a happy ending. I can’t wait to read it!
