Open Tabs is Sunnie’s weekly newsletter, where we share what we’ve been watching, listening to, reading, buying, and thinking about.

Galentine’s Day is basically the Super Bowl of loving your friends. And we take it very seriously. From cozy queens to the chaotic friends who text “OMG HELP” on the daily, we pulled goodies all your besties will fall in love with.

If you’re hosting, try some Pinterest-worthy vintage-inspired V-day cards that feel nostalgic but not too elementary school. And of course, tons of pink Hershey kisses and candy hearts to complete the scene.

✦ For the BFF always up for a challenge, try Lego roses that are as aesthetic as they are fun (and difficult, TBH). The bouquet is a built-in activity that makes the night fun, and it’ll motivate your friends to get together again next week to finish it.

For the self-care obsessed, try this duo: a hair mask and a leave-in treatment. Think about it: She already has a shampoo and a conditioner she’s married to, so these are the perfect picks to switch it up without pressuring her.

For the cozy-core girlies, we’re obsessed with this coffee mug. It’s so Pinterest-worthy but usable day-to-day, too. Def a go-to for anyone who’s working on romanticizing their routine.

First, we obviously need to talk about the Super Bowl.

Blue Ivy Carter’s gameday look proved she’s a fashion icon in the making. She rocked a Jaded London football baby tee, dark denim, tan hiking boots and an Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh letterman jacket, complete with wraparound sunnies and a wallet chain. She even posed for pics with little sister Rumi. Big sister energy at its finest.

Coco Jones belted “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” often called the Black National Anthem, and it genuinely brought tears to our eyes. Her all-white outfit nodded to Whitney Houston’s legendary 1991 Super Bowl ‘fit. A reminder we’re standing on the shoulders of the women who came before us — the ones who opened doors, paved the path, and showed us what’s possible.

Two women served as Super Bowl sideline reporters, and if you’re a sports broadcasting girl, your mood board is probably overflowing right now. Kaylee Hartung made her Super Bowl debut, while trailblazing broadcaster Melissa Stark returned to the big game 23 years after first covering it. A huge representation win — because the story of the game isn’t just on the field, it’s on the sidelines, too.

And then… Benito Bowl happened (aka the halftime show).

Bad Bunny didn’t just perform — he turned the halftime show into his own world. Even those of us with goldfish-level attention spans stayed locked in. The set was a joyful celebration of Puerto Rican culture, with surprise pop-ins from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and more (we’ll get to that in a sec). The moment everyone’s talking about? He handed his brand-new Grammy (yes, the one he literally just won last week) to a boy onstage meant to represent his younger self. It was a “dreams do come true” moment that hit us hard.

And wait, was that Alix Earle? Plus Cardi B, Pedro Pascal, Karol G, Young Miko, and Jessica Alba? They all popped up for blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos in La Casita, the little pink house on the field, during the halftime show. If you’ve ever been to a Benito show, you know La Casita — it’s the suburban Puerto Rican home turned VIP hangout, starring the most random-but-perfect lineup of celebs who love him as much as we do.

But the Super Bowl isn’t all we’re into rn…

Jake Shane is making his Broadway debut!! Our fave octopus-loving content creator will join the cast of All Out: Comedy About Ambition beginning February 17 in NYC. His co-stars are making their first-time Broadway appearances, too: Jenny Slate, Nicholas Braun, and Ray Romano. We can’t wait for the tea on Therapuss

Ever wonder what the perfume version of Daisy Jones & The Six would smell like? Same. Our new niche obsession is pairing scents with our fave reads, and we got so deep into it that we turned it into a full Sunnie Reads article. So whether you’re a Conrad/Belly fangirl or an Emily Henry lover, there’s a scent out there that matches your vibe perfectly.

Laila Edwards just made history as the first Black woman to ever play for Team USA’s Olympic ice hockey team, and she didn’t waste a second of her debut. In the team’s 5–1 win over Czechia, she picked up the first Olympic point of her career with an assist. A huge milestone, obviously — but the real win is the representation. Laila says parents tell her their daughters play sports because she makes them feel seen. That’s an impact that goes way beyond the score.

Taylor Swift just dropped the Opalite music video, and it’s giving full ‘90s vibes. It’s all about finding your people — the ones where you can be silly, weird, and fully yourself. The cast includes everyone she appeared with on The Graham Norton Show back in October: Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and Graham himself. Because of course. She’d admired all of them from afar for a long time, which is why she shot her shot and asked them to be a part of the video after the show. “Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory,” Taylor joked in her Insta caption. The video and the IRL story are a cute reminder to put yourself out there.

We got the Sabrina Carpenter x Miss Piggy collab we’ve been waiting for in The Muppet Show. Sabrina fangirled over her style icon, and honestly, who hasn’t taken fashion inspo from Miss Piggy? They prove there’s more than enough room for two main characters on stage.

Our first Sunnie Reads: The Stacks is coming next week!! We’re so excited to bring you book recs from people we’re obsessed with. Any guesses on who will share her stack first? Hint: She doesn’t just read books… She writes them, too. 👀
